STAGE 4: 55 years+

The pines, being older, larger, and fewer, produce more seeds and cones and attract more animals and birds that live in dens in addition to those that live in the forest canopy. Because of their size, they are considered quality saw timber which will provide greater value for the landowner. Trees not harvested will eventually die from an insect or disease attack  or a natural disaster, like a wildfire or tornado. And the cycle will start over again.
