A small fire is caused by a dropped magnifying glass and then extinguished naturally by the debris on the forest floor.

Elementary / Middle School
Bosveld, Jane.  While a Tree Was Growing.  1997.  American Museum of Natural History.  Workman Publishing.  New York, New York.  ISBN 0-7611-0540-9 Description of a forest fire in the Sierra Nevada mountains in an old growth forest.  A few Native Americans sometime between 300-200 B.C started the fire.
